Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Minesweeper War Badge, by Adolf Scholze

(Kriegsabzeichen für Minensuch-, U-Boot-Jagd- und Sicherungsverbände). Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central depiction of a sea mine exploding, the reverse with a ball hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked but with the characteristics of a design attributed to Adolf Scholze, Grünwald an der Neiße, measuring 44.03 mm (w) x 55.68 mm (h), weighing 27.2 grams, with moderate loss of finish evident, in very fine condition.
