(Heer Schiffchen für Männer der Kavallerie). An extremely well-preserved Heer Armoured Cavalry/Reconnaissance EM/NCO’s M35 overseas cap, constructed of black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which are scalloped toward the front. Ventilation holes reinforced with black-painted zink grommets flank each side of the crown. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a field-grey rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 70 mm (w) x 30 mm (h) overall. Directly below the eagle, the centre of the walls is stitched with a tricolour cockade set onto a field-grey rayon backer, measuring 38 mm (w) x 38 mm (h). The cockade is surrounded by a golden-yellow soutache which is securely stitched through the seam of the walls. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece grey cotton/rayon-blended liner. Stamped onto the crown in black ink is a maker’s mark of “WILLY SPRENGPFEIL, HAMBURG”, with a size mark of “57”, and a manufacture date of “1938”. It measures approximately 300 mm (l) x 120 mm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Free of evident damage, the cap appears to be lightly used or unworn, and remains in a near mint condition.
