Instituted in 1835. 3rd Model (1856-1957), Type III with Cypher of Ali III ibn al-Husayn (1882-1902), In silver, with a green enamelled centrepiece bearing the cypher of Ali III ibn al-Husayn (1882-1902), the star points in alternating red and green enamels, with three faceted rays between each star point, Tunisian hallmarked on the reverse, measuring 48.7 mm (w) x 68.5 mm (h) inclusive of its bow suspension, scattered chipping evident on the red and green enamelled star points, large rosette on its original ribbon, the centrepiece cypher having been turned ninety degrees clockwise, better than very fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, wooden-framed, maroon papered exterior, Husseinic coat-of-arms in gold-coloured ink on the lid, inside lid lined in white cotton, maroon felt medal bed, measuring 58.8 mm (w) x 126.5 mm (h) x 28 mm (h), exhibiting scuffing and wear on the exterior, along with wear on the inside lid and the medal bed, plus loss of the material overlying the hinged area, case near fine.
Footnote: The Order of Glory was instituted in 1835 by Al-Mustafa ibn Mahmud, the Bey of Tunisia and awarded to members of the ruling house, senior public servants and to senior officers for acts of bravery. It was awarded in six grades: Grand Cordon, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, Knight 1st Class, and Knight 2nd Class. The order was awarded until the constitutional role of the Bey was abolished in 1957.
