Item #G52124

$540
(Heer Tropen Schiffchen). A very well-preserved Heer EM/NCO’s M35 tropical overseas cap, constructed of an olive-drab cotton blend. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which are scalloped toward the front, while the crown is flanked on each side by a ventilation hole reinforced with a brown-painted zink grommet. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia consisting of a light brown rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 65 mm (W) x 30 mm (h). Directly below the eagle, the centre of the wall is stitched with an additional insignia consisting of a tricolour cockade set onto a light brown rayon backer, measuring 30 mm (w) x 32 mm (h) overall. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece red cotton liner. Stamped onto the crown in black ink is a maker’s mark of “HANS BRANDT, MAGDEBURG”, a manufacture date code of “842”, and conflicting size marks of “56” and “55”. It measures approximately 275 mm (l) x 105 mm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Minor material fatigue is evident to the exterior material, but the cap remains in an overall extremely fine condition.
