(Nishan-i-Osmania). Instituted in 1861. In silver with green enamels, converted to be worn as a pinback badge with the reverse now the obverse and illustrating a trophy-of-arms with the year in Eastern Arabic numerals "٦٩٩" = AH 699 (1299/1300 AD, the year of the creation of the Ottoman Empire), missing its original obverse centrepiece resulting in a hollow area on the reverse, measuring 64 mm (w) x 62.5 mm (h), horizontal pinback, intact enamels, very fine.
Footnote: The Order of Osmanieh was instituted on December 9, 1861 by Sultan 'Abdu'l-Aziz Khan I and awarded to Ottoman civil servants and military leaders for outstanding services to the state. It was originally awarded in three grades, which was extended to five grades in 1867.
