Germany, Third Reich. A Land Customs Official’s Dagger Scabbard

(Scheide für Zolldienst Dolch). A scarce scabbard for a Land Customs official’s dagger, constructed of a magnetic metal shaft with a dark green leather exterior liner. The exterior features three nickel-silver fittings secured in place with side rivets, with the tip demonstrating a classic flattened appearance. Two integral loops emanate from the throat and mid-section for the accommodation of a hanger. Notably, the loops retain a matching portepee, consisting of a stylized silver aluminum wire acorn with a green threaded cupule, suspended from a green rayon strap flanked by machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire tresses. Age-appropriate issues are evident, and include some cracking of the leather liner, tarnishing of the nickel-silver features, and moderate wear to the portepee. A set of accessories to a rare dagger in overall very fine condition.
