Germany, Wehrmacht. An Azad Hind Medal in Silver with Swords

(Azad-Hind-Orden in Silber mit Schwertern). Constructed of silvered zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a central raised inscription of “AZAD HIND”, topped by a leftward-facing Bengal tiger, above a lily, the reverse bearing a raised grid pattern with a central inscription of “INDIENS FREIHEITS KAMPF” (“INDIA’S FREEDOM STRUGGLE”), topped by a crossed sword clasp at the 12 o’clock position from which an integral loop emanates, unmarked, measuring 36.42 mm (w) x 50.24 mm (h), weighing 17.0 grams, with moderate oxidation and loss of finish evident, in overall very fine condition.
