Germany, Luftwaffe. A LKp S-101 Flying Helmet, by Siemens

(Luftwaffe Pilotenhelm). A well-preserved Luftwafe LKp S-101 flying helmet, constructed of a beige cotton-blended twill with a multi-piece olive-drab satin interior liner. It is flanked on each side by protruding earpieces featuring a bakelite shell lined on the exterior with dark brown leather. Two reverse brown leather straps with functional snap buttons accommodate optional goggles, while a hidden brown cotton strap set into the lower back adjusts the fit with bakelite buttons. Double-sided magnetic metal buttons accommodate a two-piece brown leather strap, each perforated with an array of eyelets for an adjustable fit. The interior is plain with the exception of white wool liners which provide padding for the wearer’s ears. Each earpiece is maker marked on the interior with the logo of Siemens. The helmet demonstrates minor issues consistent with age and wear, including some oxidation of the metal features and fatigue of the leather elements. It is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
