Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Bronze Grade, B.H. Mayer Design

(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze). Constructed of bronzed tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central Panzer IV rolling over grassy terrain, with its left tread extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a crimped hinged and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked but demonstrating the classic characteristics of design by B.H. Mayer, measuring 41.96 mm (w) x 59.76 mm (h), weighing 15.5 grams, in extremely fine condition.
