Italy, Kingdom. A Russian Expedition Commemorative Cross

(Croce Commemorativa del Corpo di Spedizione Italiano in Russia). Constructed of silvered zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse formerly with white enameled arms, the reverse bearing central engraved initials “C.S.I.R” (Corpo di Spedizione Italiano in Russia/Italian Expeditionary Corps in Russia), the arms engraved with the locations of key battles involving Italian forces on the Eastern Front, unmarked, 42.70 mm (w) x 47.33 mm (h), weighing 16.1 grams, all of the obverse enamel has been lost and oxidation is visible throughout, in fair condition.
