Hesse-Darmstadt, Grand Duchy. An Order of the Star of Brabant, Silver Medal

(Orden Stern von Brabant Silberne Medaille). Instituted 24 June 1914 by Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig. (1914-1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing the monogram of Landgrave Heinrich I, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “1244 FÜRST VOLK NÄCHSTENLIEBE WOHLFAHRT”, topped by an integral loop and suspension ring retaining a period original ribbon, the ring stamped with a mark of “SILBER”, otherwise unmarked, measuring 32.96 mm in diameter, weighing 16.8 grams, a scarce decoration in extremely fine condition.
