Medal of Military Valour, II Class Silver Grade: in silver, reverse national hallmarked, marked "800" (silver) and engraved "ALTIERI GIOSAFATTA" in the centre, surrounded by the engraved inscription "CIELO DEL MEDIT. / DIC. 941 - NOV. 942" (Mediterranean Sky / December 1941 to November 1942), measuring approximately 34.5 mm (w) x 39 mm (h) inclusive of its integral suspension, original ribbon, extremely fine. Accompanied by his Ministry of Aeronautics Award Document, the Order Number 47 at the upper left, with the Kingdom of Italy coat-of-arms overprinted with "REPUBBLICA ITALIANA" (Italian Republic) in red ink, the heading "MINISTERO DELL' AERONAUTICA" (Ministry of Aeronautics) immediately below, indicating he was awarded the Medal of Military Valour, II Class Silver Grade on February 8, 1946, the document inscribed in typewritten text "Al Tenente Pilota ALTIERI Giosafatta, da Castellana (Bari). / Primo pilota di velivolo da trasporto impegnato in azioni di rifornimento alle nostre truppe operanti in Libia lungo rotte insidiate del nemico, dava constante prova di ardimento e di abnegazione, prodigandosi sempre ed ovunque in uno slancio di assoluta dedizione al dovere.
