Frederick VII (1848-1863) - (Dannebrogordenen). Constructed of meticulously crafted gold, in the shape of a Dannebrog cross, with the outer outlines enameled in red and the rest of the cross with white enamels; the center of the cross decorated with a cross, consisting of thirteen vertical and ten horizontal table cut stones, with the addition of a larger square stone in the middle of the cross; the reverse similarly enameled as the obverse, but featuring the crowned royal cipher of Friedrich Carl Christian VII in gold; suspended from a gold ring filled with white enamels, and a large gold ring for suspension - marked with the Danish Assay Three Tower Mark with the numeral “48” denoting 1848 manufacture, and a French owl import hallmark; likely made by the Royal Jeweler Anton Michelsen; measuring 41.59 mm (w) x 48.16 mm (h); weighing 32.9 grams; with very minimal flaking of the enamels; in overall better than extremely fine condition.
