(Verdienstorden vom Deutschen Adler, Bruststern II. Klasse). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1943-1945 issue). Constructed of silver with enamels, the obverse consisting of a six-pointed radiant star, overlaid by a central white enameled Maltese Cross within a gilt frame, with its arms joined together through the quadrants by NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas on white enameled backgrounds, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse applique in place, with a raised barrel hinge and narrowly tapering vertical pinback meeting a rounded catch, the pinback stamped with a silver content number of “900”, otherwise unmarked but demonstrating the classic characteristics of manufacturer by Gebrüder Godet, Berlin, measuring 65.63 mm (w) x 72.25 mm (h), weighing 44.1 grams, with a consistent patina visible to the obverse of the award, in extremely fine condition.
