Item #EU19405

$270
The exterior is in a pressed grayish green felt, designed with a protruding brim at the front, with raised edges on both sides that carry around to the back of the hat, the entire edge of which is trimmed in a light brown synthetic material. There is a leather patch with a moss green upper stitched in place on the left side, the patch with a black raven's feather protruding from it, indicative of an Alpini Regiment. Stitched in place at the front is a 5th Alpini Regiment insignia in gold-coloured bullion wire, in various textures. The insignia consists of a spread-winged eagle, with gold-coloured sequins interlaced with the bullion in its wings, along with touches of a black embroidery for the eagle's eye and red embroidery for its tongue. The eagle's talons rest upon a circle in hunter green wool and bearing the number "5" (5th Alpini Regiment), the circle framed by a horn and backed by crossed rifles, all on a pressed grayish green felt base. The underside of the brim is in a pressed grayish green felt, the interior sidewalls and the dome lined in a fine white rayon mesh, the dome bearing the Alpini insignia in a deep purple ink, with a clear moisture liner covering the dome. There is a 33 mm wide simulated black leather sweatband stitched in place, the ends of which are secured together at the rear by a bow-tied white ribbon, with the neighbouring size sticker marked "58" affixed to the sweatband. The hat measures 190 mm in width x 240 mm in depth x 130 mm in height, exhibiting a prominent indentation on the top, discolouration in the light brown synthetic trim, along with crazing and cracking in the simulated black leather sweatband. It is free of mothing, the bullion on the insignia intact. Very fine.
