Germany, SS. A Waffen-SS Panzer EM/NCO’s Dachau-Style M43 Field Cap

(Waffen-SS Einheitsfeldmütze M43 für Männer der Panzertruppe). An extremely well-preserved Waffen-SS Panzer EM/NCO’s Dachau-style M43 field cap, constructed of black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, scalloped toward the front, providing optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use the panels are rolled up and secured in place at the front by two black bakelite buttons which emanate from the right panel and meet an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left panel. Visible on the peak is the unmistakable outline of a one-piece trapezoidal insignia which, having been carefully removed from the cap, is lost to time. Completing the exterior features is a protruding card stock-reinforced visor, with the core exposed on the reverse in classic Dachau style. The interior is fully encompassed by a black rayon-blended liner, which is plain with the exception of a size mark of “57” stamped onto the crown in white ink. The cap measures approximately 21 cm (w) x 25 cm (l) x 14 cm (h). It demonstrates no damage or wear, with the exception of the missing insignia, and is in an overall extremely fine condition.
