Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised and leftward-facing profile of Grand Duke Friedrich II, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a central wreathed inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST” (“FOR MERIT”), the edge stamped with a silver content number of “800”, measuring 39.30 mm in diameter, weighing 24.0 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
