Germany, Wehrmacht. A Rare 1939 Iron Cross I Class, Cloth Version, with Dietrich Maerz Certification

(Eisernes Kreuz 1939 I. Klasse, Stoffausführung). Reinstituted 1 September 1939. (1939-1945 issue). Constructed of black wool, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse featuring machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire arms border on the interior with flat wire simulating the pebbling of a metal cross, with a central machine-embroidered black mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a machine-embroidered date of “1939”, the reverse featuring a field-grey cotton twill liner, unmarked, measuring 53 mm (w) x 53 mm (h), a rare and high-quality example in extremely fine condition.
