(Waffen-SS Einheitsfeldmütze M43 für Offiziere). An extremely well-preserved Waffen-SS Officer’s M43 field cap, constructed of a field-grey composite fabric twill. It is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels which are scalloped toward the front, providing optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place with two grey, pebbled magnetic metal buttons emanating from the right panel and meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes set into the left panel. The outer edge of the crown is fully trimmed with a length of white wool piping. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a field-grey rayon trapezoid bearing a machine-embroidered, silver-grey, SS-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, situated above a Totenkopf of identical construction. The peak insignia measures 65 mm (w) x 48 mm (h) overall. Completing the exterior features is a protruding card stock-reinforced visor, fully lined in identical fabric. Set across the interior forehead is a partial sweatband, constructed of light brown leather. The interior is also fully encompassed by a multi-piece grey herringbone twill (HBT) liner, which presents plain with the exception of a size mark of “58” stamped onto the crown in black ink. The cap is otherwise unmarked and measures approximately 20 cm (w) x 25.5 cm (l) x 14 cm (h). Minor soiling is visible to the peak insignia and around the lower edge of the interior liner, but the cap remains in an overall extremely fine condition.
