Constructed of bronze, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a raised map of Crimea and southern Ukraine, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, flanked by dates “1941-1942”, affixed with all four reverse attachment prongs to a zink backplate covered with a field-grey paper backer and field-grey wool liner indicating Heer issue, unmarked, the shield measuring 51.00 mm (w) x 61.95 mm (h), with sporadic oxidation evident to the base metal, in near extremely fine condition.
