Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its original German-manufactured ribbon with horizontal pinback, the obverse bearing a raised depiction of two gladiators (symbolizing Germany and Italy) grappling with a crocodile (symbolizing Great Britain), the reverse bearing a central raised depiction of the Arco dei Fileni flanked by a fasces and swastika, circumscribed by an inscription of “ITALIAN-GERMAN CAMPAIGN IN AFRICA” in both Italian and German, the obverse maker marked “LORIOLI, MILANO”, measuring 30.82 mm in diameter, weighing 14.0 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in extremely fine condition.
