Germany, Third Reich. A 1942 Tyrolean Pistol Marksmanship Gau Champion’s Badge, by Carl Poellath

(Standschützenverband Tirol-Vorarlberg - Leistungsabzeichen 1942 für Pistole). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, horizontal pinback, the obverse consisting of a circular green enameled oak leaf wreath, surrounding a pebbled gilt disc, bearing a red enameled Tirolean eagle clutching a white enameled bullseye target bearing a mobile swastika, flanked by a date of “1942” and above an inscription of “PISTOLE”, the reverse maker marked “C. POELLATH, SCHROBENHAUSEN”, unmarked, measuring 51.28 mm in diameter, weighing 26.8 grams, in extremely fine condition.
