(Herzog Carl Eduard Medaille). Instituted 6 August 1906 by Duke Carl Eduard. (1906-1911 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original neck ribbon, the obverse with a finely-detailed rightward-facing profile of Duke Carl Eduard circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central Saxe-Coburg and Gotha Coat of arms, flanked by lions rampant, topped by a royal crown an inscription of “FUER VERDIENST” (“FOR MERIT”), above an inscription of “TREU UND BESTÆNDIG” (“LOYAL AND TRUE”), both the obverse and reverse marked with the a cast designer’s mark of “MAX V. KAWACZYNSKI”, the edge marked “SILBER” with a content mark of “990”, manufactured by the firm of L. Christian Lauer, Nürnberg, measuring 50.42 (w) x 53.58 mm (h), weighing 68.6 grams, in extremely fine condition.
