Germany, Third Reich. A Mixed Lot of Midwives Association Badges

(Deutsche Hebammen Abzeichen). A mixed lot of three German Midwives Association badges, including:

1. A General Member’s Badge, constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the reverse with a clip hinge and horizontal pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 36 mm in diameter, with two small chips visible to the enamel of the outer ring, in very fine condition.

2. A Silver Member’s Badge, constructed of silver with gilt and multi-coloured enamels, horizontal pinback, the reverse stamped with a silver content number of “800”, measuring 43 mm in diameter, weighing 19.3 grams, in extremely fine condition.

3. A Silver Honour Badge, constructed of gilded silver with multi-coloured enamels, horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 43 mm in diameter, weighing 22.0 grams, with some flecking of enamels evident, in near extremely fine condition.

4. A Gold Honour Badge, constructed of fire-gilded silver with multi-coloured enamels, horizontal pinback, the reverse bearing an unconfirmed maker’s mark, measuring 43 mm in diameter, weighing 18.5 grams, a rare badge in extremely fine condition.
