(Reichsmarine Offiziersdolch mit Etui). A miniature Reichsmarine Officer’s dagger, measuring 20 cm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 14 cm-long nickel-plated magnetic steel blade with a sharpened tip. The blade is plain with the exception of a stamped mark of “GERMANY” partially visible on the reverse ricasso. It sits securely within a gilded bronze crossguard which bears double-sided central fouled anchors. The handle grip is composed of a single piece of ribbed light brown celluloid. It completes with a rounded gilded bronze pommel which screws in to securely maintain the dagger’s structural integrity. It is accompanied by its original scabbard, constructed of a gilded bronze shaft with stylized etched designs distributed around the circumference. The upper third of the shaft features two integral bands which retain hanger loops. Both the dagger and scabbard are concealed within a period original matching storage case, constructed of a wooden frame with a blue canvas exterior liner. The interior features a padded white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, as well as a slotted dark blue velvet bed. It closes with a functional bronze snap button and measures 23 mm (w) x 7 cm (l) x 3 xm (h). Minor scratched and running marks are visible to the dagger’s blade, while the gilded bronze features demonstrates moderate loss of finish, and some soiling is evident to the case’s exterior liner. It is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
