(Waffen-SS Einheitsfeldmütze M43 für Männer der Panzertruppe). A very well-preserved Waffen-SS Panzer EM/NCO’s Dachau-style M43 field cap, constructed of black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, scalloped at the front, providing optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place at the front with two black bakelite buttons which emanate from the right panel and meet an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left panel. The peak demonstrates the outline of a one-piece trapezoidal insignia which has since been lost to time. Completing the exterior features is a protruding card stock-reinforced visor, lined in identical black wool on the obverse and with an exposed core on the reverse. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece black rayon liner, marked on the crown with a size mark of “57” in white ink. Otherwise unmarked, the cap measures approximately 21 cm (w) x 25.5 cm (l) x 12.5 cm (h). In addition to the missing insignia, minor fatigue is visible to the exposed core visor, along with slight interior soiling. Demonstrating no other evident damage or wear, the cap remains in an extremely fine condition.
