Instituted June 4 1917 by King George V. Type II (1957 -). An Officer’s badge, in silver gilt, featuring the portraits of Queen Mary and King George V on the obverse surrounded by a ring inscribed FOR GOD AND THE EMPIRE, the reverse features the cypher of George V, measures 49.05mm (w) x 61.3mm (h – inclusive of integral crown suspension), weighs 27.8 grams (including ribbon), worn on original red and white ribbon with pin at the top, scattered gilt wear, remains in very fine condition.
Contained in its original case of issue, a black hardshell leatherette exterior marked O.B.E MILY, the interior is marked GARRARD & Co, with a crème coloured recessed velvet medal bed, hinge and clasp functional, minor wear, in extremely fine condition.
