Instituted June 4 1917 by King George V. Type II (1938 -). A Member’s award, in silver, featuring the portraits of Queen Mary and King George V on the obverse surrounded by a ring inscribed FOR GOD AND THE EMPIRE, the reverse features the cypher of George V, measures 49.15mm (w) x 63.41mm (h – inclusive of integral crown suspension), weighs 31.0 grams (including ribbon), worn on original red and white ribbon denoting post 1938, with pin at the top marked STERLING, lovely patina, in extremely fine condition.
Contained in its original case of issue, a black hardshell leatherette exterior marked M.B.E, the interior is marked ROYAL MINT, with a crème coloured recessed velvet medal bed, hinge and clasp functional, minor wear, in extremely fine condition.
