Constructed of gilded silver with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms outlined in gilt, the obverse bearing a central gilded medallion overlaid by a raised crown, within a ring of blue enamel bearing a gilt inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD WITH US”) with arabesques, the reverse bearing a central gilded medallion overlaid by a raised monogram of King Wilhelm I, within a ring of blue enamel bearing a gilt institution date of “DEN 18 OCTOBER 1861”, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an integral loop and suspension ring with a period original ribbon, the six o’clock arm maker marked “N” for Neuhaus & Sohn, Berlin, measuring 42.66 mm (w) x 46.27 mm (h), weighing 12.9 grams (inclusive of ribbon), with minor flecking and tarnishing visible to the enamels and gilt, respectively, in overall extremely fine condition.
