Instituted May 18 1725 by King George I. Civil Division. Type II (1815-). A beautiful commander breast star in silver, presenting a four-armed star with multiple faceted rays, with five small faceted rays between each arm, the obverse medallion in Gold, presents three delicately detailed crowns on a field of faceted rings, surrounded by a red enamel ring inscribed TRIA JUNCTA IN UNO (Three Joined In One) with beautifully etched letters, the reverse bears a single pin assembly, the cartouche is engraved FROM FAMOUS BARR R. & S. GARRARD & Co. Goldsmiths to the Crown. 31 Panton Street. HAYMARKET, LONDON 9 – 15 – 69, measures 73.1mm (w) x 72.8mm (h), weighs 72.2 grams, light enamel wear to obverse crowns, lovely dark patina on rays, hinge and catch functional, in better than extremely fine condition.
