Germany, SS. A Waffen-SS EM/NCO’s M40 Overseas Cap

(Waffen-SS Schiffchen M40). A well-preserved Waffen-SS EM/NCO’s M40 overseas cap, constructed of field-grey wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels which slope downward towards the front. Visible on the peak is the unmistakable outline of an SS-style German national eagle insignia which has since been removed from the cap. Directly below the eagle is the outline of a Totenkopf insignia, similarly lost to time. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece slate-grey rayon liner. Fully unmarked, the cap measures approximately 28.5 cm (l) x 13.5 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. In addition to the missing insignia, the interior liner demonstrates minor soiling consistent with light wear. The cap remains in an overall near extremely fine condition.
