(Nishan Ismail). Instituted in 1915. Hardshelled design on both the lid and base with a dark brown dimpled exterior on all sides, marked with the crowned Royal cypher of King Farouk I (Reign: 1936-1952) and trimmed with an ornate border in gold-coloured ink on the lid, inside lid lined in white satin, padded and maker marked in Arabic, with a maker's ribbon inscribed "J. Lattes, Cairo" placed on an angle at the upper left corner, a white cardboard insert placed within the base and housing a raised platform in cream-coloured felt, with a recessed medal bed for the badge, push release closure, measuring 90.5 mm (w) x 127 mm (h) x 31.5 mm (d), light wear and contact evident on the exterior, light soiling on the satin lining and in the fabric overlying the hinged area, soiled medal bed, the base slightly undulated and forcing the lid to sit slightly askew, fine.
Footnote: The Order of Ismail was instituted in 1915 by Sultan Husayn Kamil and discontinued in 1952. It was awarded for civil merit and for services to the state, in five grades.
