Constructed of silvered feinzink, the obverse bearing a raised and rightward-facing profile of Tsar Peter I (“the Great”), circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a raised depiction of a crowned and seated monarch surrounded by courtiers, circumscribed by inscriptions indicating that the medal was issued in 1696 in commemoration of the Azov campaigns of the Russo-Turkish War of 1686-1700, the obverse engraver marked “ІК” for an unidentified individual, measuring 47.44 mm in diameter, with moderate oxidation and loss of finish evident throughout, in very fine condition.
