Germany, Wehrmacht. A 1939 Clasp to the Iron Cross II Class, Type 1

(Wiederholungsspange 1939 zum Eisernen Kreuz 2. Klasse 1914, 1. Form). Reinstituted 1 September 1939. (1939-1940 issue). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of a Wehrmacht eagle perched on top of a wreathed mobile swastika, in turn set above a scalloped trapezoidal plaque bearing a date of “1939” on a pebbled background, the reverse with all four attachment prongs intact and retaining a period original length of ribbon, unmarked, measuring 29.60 mm (w) x 30.62 mm (h), weighing 7.1 grams, with slight loss of finish evident, in near extremely fine condition.
