(Waffen-SS Einheitsfeldmütze M43 für Männer der Panzertruppe). An extremely well-preserved Waffen-SS Panzer EM/NCO’s Dachau-style M43 field cap, constructed of black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, scalloped toward the front, providing optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place with two black bakelite buttons which emanate from the right panel and meet an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a black rayon trapezoid bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Totenkopf, in turn topped by an SS-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika of identical construction. The peak insignia measures 68 mm (w) x 48 mm (h) overall. Completing the exterior features is a protruding card stock-reinforced visor, with the core exposed on the reverse in classic Dachau style. The interior is fully encompassed by a grey cotton-blended herringbone twill (HBT) liner, stamped on the crown with a size mark of “56” in black ink. Measuring approximately 21.5 cm (w) x 25 cm (l) x 13.5 cm (h), the cap demonstrates minor issues consistent with age and field use, including including slight soiling of the interior liner and the apparent removal of a tag from the crown liner. It remains in an overall extremely fine condition.
