Libya, Kingdom. An Order of Independence, I Class Star

(Wissam al-Istikal). Instituted 1951. A large silver star of five points with clusters of faceted rays, the obverse medallion features a five point red enamel star with the central medallion featuring a green enamel inscription in silver gilt, with a crown overlaid at 12 o’clock, the reverse bears single vertical pin with dual stays, a city and date mark in Arabic marked on the base of the cartouche and the star, measures 80.6mm (w) x 78.5mm (h), weighs 87.3 grams, very dark patina, enamels intact, minor contact, in very fine condition.
