(Kriegsmarine Tropenfelddienstmütze). An extremely well-preserved Kriegsmarine EM/NCO’s M41 tropical field cap, constructed of a tan-coloured cotton blend. The cap is fully surrounded by decorative side panels secured in place by machine stitching. It is flanked on each side by dual ventilation holes, reinforced with bronze eyelets. Stitched into the peak is an insignia in the form of a tan-coloured cotton blended backer bearing a golden-yellow machine-embroidered Kriegsmarine-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 62 mm (w) x 30 mm (h) overall. Underneath the eagle is a second insignia in the form of a diamond-shaped, tan-coloured backer bearing a machine-embroidered tri-colour cockade, measuring 38 mm (w) x 38 mm (h). The exterior features complete with a protruding, cardboard-reinforced visor. The interior features a complete liner, constructed of smooth beige rayon. It is stamped with a black ink maker’s mark of “STÉ CHAPELIÈRE PARISIENNE, PARIS”, and with a size mark of “57”. The cap measures approximately 210 mm (w) x 270 mm (l) x 95 mm (h). Minor material fatigue is evident, and it is in an overall extremely fine condition.
