Constructed of ribbed cotton twill with gently sloping side panels towards a scalloped front with silver aluminum bullion embroidery along the crown of the cap and the downward sloping panels. The cap features two plain ventilation grommets on each side in between the top crown and scalloped edged seam. The front center of the cap features a machine woven national tri-colour (black-white-red) cockade on a woven tan rayon diamond base. The insignia is original to the cap and appears to be hand stitched to the cap. The cap also features a visor extending outwards from the front of the cap, constructed of matching tan cotton twill, with an internal cardboard supports. The interior of the cap is lined in a forest green cotton, stitched into place with tan threads. It is marked “RBNr. 9/0678/5015 6/43 / 57| in black ink. It measures 180 mm (w) x 255 mm (h). An unworn example in overall mint condition.
