Germany, Wehrmacht. A Mixed Lot of Badges

(Wehrmacht Abzeichen). A mixed lot of three badges, including:

1. An Infantry Assault Badge, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, diagonally across the badge is a Karabiner 98k rifle with the carrying strap hanging from the rifle, the reverse with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 47.02 mm (w) x 61.84 mm (h), weighing 29.9 grams, the bayonet has broken off and significant oxidation is evident throughout, in fair condition.

2. A Krim Shield, constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse consisting of a raised map of Crimea and southern Ukraine, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, flanked by dates “1941-1942”, the reverse with three of four pinbacks intact and connecting to a zink backplate, unmarked, measuring 51.97 mm (w) x 61.92 mm (h), weighing 21.9 grams, in addition to the missing prong the shield has lost its wool liner and demonstrates moderate oxidation and loss of finish throughout, in very fine condition.

3. A DRL Sports Badge, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, around central stylized initials “DRL”, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge flattened vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “HENSLER, PFORZHEIM”, measuring 39.47 mm (w) x 48.47 mm (h), weighing 16.6 grams, the obverse swastika has been ground out and the base metal throughout the area re-finished, in very fine condition.
