(Ehrenzeichen vom Roten Kreuz, 1. Klasse, mit Kriegsdekoration). Instituted 1914. Military Division. A Latin cross constructed of silver, with red and white enamelled arms, the obverse consisting of a central white enamelled medallion with a red enamelled red cross, surrounded by a ring of red enamels, inscribed “PATRIAE AC HUMANITATI” (Latin - For Country and Humanity) in silver gilt capital lettering, the arms of the cross enamelled with white enamels on the outer edge and red and red enamels on the interior of the arms, the reverse enamelled in the same style, with a central white enamelled medallion dated “1864-1914”), suspended from a double loop suspension, marked with the Austrian silver hallmark for “800” silver purity, as well as an illegible maker mark, measures 48.1mm (w) x 61.3mm (h), weighs 35.0 grams, loss of enamel to green oak leaf and laurel wreath, otherwise, enamels intact and remains in better than very fine condition.
Accompanied by a full-length neck ribbon of the decoration, of red and white watered silk, missing the tie strings at each end, remains in extremely fine condition.
