Germany, Wehrmacht. A 1939 Clasp to the Iron Cross II Class, Type II, by Boerger & Co.

(Wiederholungsspange 1939 zum Eisernen Kreuz 2. Klasse 1914, 2. Form). Instituted 1 September 1939. (1940-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of a Wehrmacht eagle perched on top of a wreathed mobile swastika, in turn set above a trapezoidal plaque bearing a raised date of “1939” on a pebbled background, the reverse retaining both sets of attachment prongs, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of a late variation produced by Boerger & Co., Berlin, measuring 31.20 mm (w) x 31.22 mm (h), weighing 7.6 gram, accompanied by a period original length of ribbon, in overall extremely fine condition.
