A Colonial Society of Pennsylvania Badge, in 14K Gold a red enamelled cross with ornate designs in each quadrant, the obverse medallion features a silver shield with three circles on a black enamel bar, the reverse engraved “Eben Boyd Weitzel 181”, measures 36.6mm (w) x 40.3mm (h – inclusive of integral suspension), weighs 15.0 grams (including ribbon), worn on original ribbon with pinback brooch, small areas of enamel damage to obverse 12 and 3 o’clock arms, and the reverse 9 and 12 o’clock arms, otherwise remains in very fine condition.

A General Society of the War of 1812 Membership Medal, in 14 K Gold, a white and red enamelled Maltese cross with eagles in each quadrant, the obverse medallion presents the year 1812 on a blue enamel field surrounded by a black ring of stars, the badge features a large anchor visible at 6 and 12 o’clock, the reverse is engraved “EDEN BOYD WEITZEL” in the center, and “434” on the base of the anchor, worn on the correct ribbon with brooch pin at the top, measures 28.2mm (w) x 37.1mm (h), weighs 12.6 grams (including ribbon), enamels intact, minimal wear, light wear to ribbon, in extremely fine condition.

 

Footnote: Eden Boyd Weitzel born in February of 1867, in Pennsylvania. He was married to Mary Frances Evans in 1897. He died in 1928 and was buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia.
