Constructed of gilded iron with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel wreath joined together at the bottom by a banner bearing a raised inscription of “JUGENDMEISTER” (“YOUTH CHAMPION”), surrounding a central dark blue enameled medallion overlaid by an enameled HJ insignia and bisected by a gilt bar overlaid by a date of “1942” which flanks the former, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 28.58 mm in diameter, weighing 10.7 grams, the pinback retaining a multi-coloured thread which secures in place a sale of authenticity from noted collector and reference material publisher Lothar Hartung, demonstrating moderate scratching and flecking throughout the enamels and some loss of finish to the base metal, a rare badge in near extremely fine condition.
