Germany, Third Reich. A Rare Gau Baden Honour Badge, Silver Grade Large Version, by Fr. Klett

(Gau-Ehrenzeichen Baden in Silber). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a banner bearing a depressed and blackened inscription of “GAU BADEN”, surrounding an NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse with a clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting a rounde catch, maker marked “FR. KLETT, KARLSRUHE”, measuring 35.06 mm (w) x 45.78 mm (h), weighing 14.2 grams, a rare decoration in extremely fine condition.
