In solid bronze, maker marked "W.J. CARROLL LONDON" on the reverse, obverse with a club-shaped insignia in the centre illustrating two soldiers, each of which holds a long spear, the one at the left backed by a large "G", the one at the right backed by a large "C", a large "C" above fronted by a cannon and a stack of six cannonballs and surmounted by a knight's helmet, the club insignia backed by crossed spears, a ribbon banner below inscribed "TRANSEAT IN EXEMPLUM", all of which is framed by branches of laurel leaves forming an open-ended wreath, measuring 38 mm (w) x 51 mm (h), greening evident on the raised rim on the obverse and throughout on the reverse, light contact, original navy blue and red ribbon with pinback, better than very fine.
