Germany, Third Reich. A Mixed Lot of Badges

(Abzeichen). A mixed lot of three badges, including:

1. A DRL Sports Badge, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, around central stylized initials “DRL”, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “H. WERNSTEIN, JENA-LÖBSTEDT”, measuring 38.98 mm (w) x 48.55 mm (h), weighing 16.9 grams, a first pattern badge in near extremely fine condition.

2. A DRL Sports Badge, Silver Grade, constructed of magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon overlaid by a mobile swastika, around central stylized initials “DRL”, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “WERNSTEIN, JENA”, measuring 38.69 mm (w) x 48.26 mm (h), weighing 17.2 grams, a second pattern badge in near extremely fine condition.

3. A group of three Winterhilfswerk (WHW) donation badges from its Wehrmacht standard series, featuring examples from Heer Kavallerie and Führer-Begleit Bataillon, as well as Luftwaffe Flight Troops, all constructed of silver-grey bakelite, with two missing their horizontal pinbacks, in overall very fine condition.
