Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with pebbled arms, overlaid by a raised and wreathed fouled anchor, the arms bearing an inscription of “31. MAI V. L. 1920” through the visible points of the arms, the reverse bearing a patent number of “347” above a chiseled-out maker’s mark of “PAUL KÜST, BERLIN”, indicating that the award is part of a batch issued to recipients by third party suppliers, measuring 40.94 mm (w) x 45.36 mm (h), weighing 19.1 grams (inclusive of ribbon), a scarce decoration in near mint condition.
