(Heer Einheitsfeldmütze M43 für Männer der Panzertruppe). An exceptionally well-preserved Heer Panzer EM/NCO’s M43 field cap, constructed of black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, scalloped towards the front, providing optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place with two blackened and pebbled zink buttons which emanate from the right panels and meet an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left panel. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a black rayon trapezoid bearing a machine-embroidered tri-colour cockade, topped by a grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The peak insignia measures 55 mm (w) x 50 mm (h) overall. The exterior features are completed with a protruding visor with a card stock core, fully lined in identical black wool. The interior is encompassed by a multi-piece grey cotton liner. Stamped onto the crown in black ink is a partially visible mark bearing a manufacture date of “1944”, a size mark of “57”, and an illegible maker’s mark. The cap measures approximately 19 cm (w) x 24.5 cm (l) x 12 cm (h). Demonstrating no notable damage or wear, it is in a near mint condition.
