Germany, Wehrmacht. A Wound Badge, First Pattern

(Verwundetenabzeichen). Constructed of brass, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath with scalloped edges, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, around a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 38.40 mm (w) x 42.43 mm (h), weighing 7.2 grams, the grade of the badge is indeterminate due to finish loss, in near extremely fine condition.
