Constructed of brass and silver, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened brass iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse with a block hinge and tapering banjo-style pinback meeting a round write catch, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of a brass core variation by Wächtler & Lange, Mittweida,, measuring 43.79 mm (w) x 43.68 mm (h), weighing 19.4 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a silvered and embossed Cross Pattée, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted beige felt medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked measuring 70 mm (w) x 65 mm (l) x 25 mm (h), accompanied by a mis-matched issue box, constructed of beige card stock, the exterior bearing the maker’s mark of Ferdinand Hoffstätter, Bonn, in overall near extremely fine condition.
